A Proposed Unitary Authority

St Martha Parish Council

It has been brought to our attention that Surrey County Council plans to abolish the current local government structure of borough councils which in turn could affect Parish councils with one single unitary authority. This would be a major change to the current local democracy. Current chair of Surrey County Council Tim Oliver is leading the way on this. There is a petition on the Surrey County Council website which allows you to object. Currently there are over four thousand objections and for a meaningful opposition we believe ten thousand objections need to be registered.
